Sometimes the simplest of things can open up a world of possibility.

In the Garden

There are things in life that you just get lost in. You lose track of time, your thoughts calm...you focus. I find that kind of peace out in the garden. The fresh air, the weeding, the watering, the pruning, the planting...it's all very centering.

Since winter has not yet left the South, I've only been able to indulge in the more tedious, but very necessary, outdoor garden chores. Things like fixing the hard scape, amending the soil, weeding, and cleaning pots. BUT not today...today was warm! The sun was out and the motivation high! We relocated an ill-placed tree and welcomed a new flowering Cherry tree to the landscape! I can't wait to see it bloom. If I'm lucky I'll get a few flowers this spring. I am definitely tired, but a good tired.

Dearest departed Design magazines (and you know who you are),
I miss all of you. I check the mailbox and you aren't there. I stand in line at the store and there's nothing good to look at. The few that are left are no match for my voracious magazine appetite. I can only read and re-read old issues. I promise to treat you better next time. I won't throw away ANY old issues. I won't lend you out to friends, never to be returned. I won't get you wet or sandy. Just please come back! Please!

I am more than ready for Spring. I'm itchin' for it. Start seeds, check. Clean pots, check. New planting plan, check. Mother nature, not to be rushed, is on her own schedule.
